【摘要】:Petrographicexaminationsaremadeforthefollowingpurposes:Determinethephysicalandchemicalcharacteristics(mineralogy,texture,andcomposition)ofthestonespecimenthatmaybeobservedbypetrographicmethodsandthathaveabearingontheperformanceofthematerialinitsintendeduse.Describeandclassifythemineralsofthespecimen.ClassifythestonebothcommerciallyandgeologicallybasedonTerminologyC119,recognizingthedifferencesinnomenclature;andbasedonthefollowingstandards,asappropriate:SpecificationC406SpecificationC503SpecificationC568SpecificationC615SpecificationC616SpecificationC629SpecificationC1526SpecificationC1527Determinetherelativeamountsofthemineralsofthespecimenandconstituentsthathaveabearingontheperformanceofthematerialinitsintendeduse.Comparecharacteristicsofthestonewithspecimensfromoneormoresources,forwhichtestdataorperformancerecordsareavailable.Thepetrographershouldbetoldinasmuchdetailasnecessary,thepurposesandobjectivesoftheexamination,thekindofinformationneeded,andtheextentofexaminationdesired.Pertinentbackgroundinformation,includingresultsofpriortesting,suchasnbsp;nbsp;nbsp;physicalandmechanicaltesting,shouldbemadeavailable.Thepetrographerx2019;snbsp;nbsp;nbsp;adviceandjudgmentshouldbesoughtregardingtheextentoftheexamination.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;Availablephysicalandmechanicaltestingmayincludethefollowing:TestMethodsC97TestMethodC99TestMethodC170TestMethodC880TestMethodsC120TestMethodC121TestMethodC241TestMethodC1353TestMethodC217Thisguidemayformthebasisforestablishingarrangementsbetweenapurchaserofconsultingpetrographicserviceandthepetrographer.Insuchacase,thepurchaserandtheconsultantshouldtogetherdeterminethekind,extent,andobjectivesoftheexaminationandanalysestobemade,andshouldrecordtheiragreementinwriting.Theagreementmaystipulatespecificdeterminationstobemade,observationstobereported,fundstobeobligated,oracombinationoftheseorotherconditions.Petrographicexaminationsprovideidentificationoftypeandvarietiesofmineralsandstructurespresentinthespecimen.However,asnotedabove,identificationofallmineralsandstructurespresentinthespecimenisnotrequired.Thepetrographicexaminationshouldestablishwhetherthespecimencontainschemicallyunstablemineralsorvolumetricallyunstablematerials.Petrographicexaminationshouldidentifyweatheredorotherwisealteredconstituentsormineralsanddescribetheextentofthatweatheringoralteration.Wherepossible,describepotentialaestheticchangesthatmayoccurasaresultofweathering.Note18212;Ifthedimensionstonewillbeexposedtofreezingandthawingandmaybecomewetorsaturatedinuse,finelyporousandhighlyweatheredorotherwisealteredmineralsshouldbeidentifiedbecausethesematerialswillbeespeciallysusceptibletodamagebyfreezingandthawing.Petrographicexaminationshouldidentifyconstituentsormineralsandtheextenttowhichtheymayleadtostainingandcolorchangeofthesurfaceofthestonewhenthestoneisexposedtotheweatherforexterioruse.Petrographicexaminat........
